Bromham Elementary School
Wardhannapet, India
SCHOOL OPENED 19 July!
With sufficient building works complete to allow for two clases to start, the School opened its gates to 60 children in years 1 and 2 on 19th July. Two teachers have been appointed and classes have started.
This is an amazing achievment in such a short space of time and enormous thanks are due to all those who have supported the building of the school. Further funds are required to complete the building works and to ensure a reliable, independent supply of drinking water (currently piped from the Church in Wardhannapet which we funded some years ago!).
We hope that by the end of this year, the building works will be complete and the school will be able to take in a further 3 classes. We are committed to providing sufficient money each year for these impoverished Dalit children to have free education - find out how you can help by clicking here.
Bromham Elementary School (BES) is a new primary school in a village 100 miles from Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh India. Ultimately it will provide free education for 150 children of the Dalit (Untouchable) caste who would otherwise have no chance of any schooling. It will have a strong Christian ethos.
A plot of land was purchased and building work started in March 2010.
This project is being supported both by Bromham Baptist Church and by individual donations. The children at Bromham Lower School have become involved and Bromham Scouts have established links.
This is a real opportunity for us all to make a difference in the lives of some of the poorest children in the village of Wardhannapet. Annual running costs of the school are expected to be covered at a rate of £12.50 per child per month. If you would like to sponsor a child or make a one-off donation, click here or contact Trevor Ogden or the Church Office.
You can also purchase a Donation Gift Card to send a gift in recognition of a birthday, anniversary, etc. Click here to go the Order form.
Below are the latest pictures showing the construction is well under way at the end of June.
