18-30’s

Largely under-resourced but over-whelmed, this multi faceted generation has been dubbed the 'IPOD GENERATION', Insecure, Pressurized, Over-taxed and Debt-ridden.  Reform 2005

Analysis of the results of a survey carried out by Care for the Family in the autumn of 2006 amongst 758 20's and 30's reveals that their four top areas of concern are career, finance, self-image and building and maintaining friendships.

In response to this we have developed a vision that we hope will give a sense of community, the various elements of which are listed below:

Discipleship Group
The 18-30’s Discipleship Group
meet on a Wednesday night and alternates between group meetings in Oakley (which cover the traditional elements of a discipleship group - prayer, praise, bible study and time together) and either the Corporate Prayer Meeting, Church Meeting or single sex accountability groups at different locations.

For more information, please contact Rachel Hatto or Lee Fellows.

Accountability Groups
These are small groups or pairs (same sex) of people who want to be mutually accountable with each other.  The accountability questions asked of each other consider three essential elements to our character - our relationship with God (UP), how we are within ourselves (IN) and how we are interacting with others (OUT).  All three should be in balance with each other.  The questions are designed to be read through asking the Holy Spirit to highlight the issues he wants to address within us.  A copy of the questions used can be found if you click here.

Links with those at University
We are actively keeping links with our young people at university and have created two notice boards in the Welcome Area with details and prayer requests of all students who have links to BBC. Every student has a link to a Discipleship Group which acts as a prayer focal point for individual students; we are also organising social events when the students return from university in the holiday times.

For more information, please contact Rachel Hatto or Lee Fellows.

Social Events
Building relationships is fundamental for the 18-30’s vision, and therefore providing social opportunities for people to get to know one another is key.  Look out for adverts and let us know if you are prepared to organise anything!

Bible Discussion Meetings
A monthly informal discussion group, talking through issues which come from that sessions study.  We are looking to study the Bible using the Inductive Method of study.  Further details can be found if you click here.

For more information, please contact Lee Fellows.

Young Mum's Prayer
A new thing with the aim of meeting regularly as young mothers to pray and support each other.

For more information, please contact Sarah Fellows.

Investigating New Expressions of Church
This group is looking to develop our understanding of church; trying out different format and styles of church, whilst still holding dearly to the fundamentally essential nature of church community.

For more information, please contact Lee Fellows.
