A way forward...

There are times in our lives when we experience distressing events or are overwhelmed by feelings and emotions. In these situations it can be helpful to to talk to a trained person in order to find a way forward.

Counselling is offered at Bromham Baptist Church to help people work through challenging life issues, such as:

  • Abuse
  • Anger
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Decision making
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Fears and phobias
  • Low self-esteem and confidence
  • Relationship or family issues
  • Stress

Our purpose

To express God’s love in action within the community by providing a counselling service staffed by trained Christian counsellors.

As counsellors we acknowledge the central truths of the Christian faith and recognise the authority of the Bible in all aspects of belief and practice.

Our aims

  • To help individuals work through issues and come to a place of constructive change.
  • To assist clients in dealing with root causes of issues.
  • To provide a confidential environment where people can explore issues.
  • To acknowledge each person as individual and unique.
  • To treat each person with respect and dignity.

 

Our counsellors

Counsellors are trained to work with those who have experienced bereavement and loss, abuse and emotional and relationship difficulties.

The counselling offered is founded on, and adheres to, Christian principles and is open to people of any faith or no faith.

Counselling appointments

Clients are normally seen at Bromham Baptist Church by appointment, which can be arranged either by telephone or in person at Bromham Baptist Church (see contact details below).

An initial assessment interview is arranged with the counselling co-ordinator to discuss the requirements of each person.  Clients may be referred to other agencies if this is considered in their best interests.

A counselling contract is made initially for six sessions, at which time a review is made and additional sessions arranged if appropriate.  Sessions last for approximately one hour.

All counsellors are supervised by an independent supervisor and are accountable to the leadership of Bromham Baptist Church.

A registration fee of £10 is required.  Donations are welcome towards administration costs.
